How to fix cracks in stucco
Hi Everyone, RULE CHANGE….when I did this video 3 years ago caulkings have gotten better and easier, If you have a sandy stucco texture use Mor-Flexx as it has sand it it and will match when painted.
If smooth you can now use a polyurethane as they last much longer and stretch when the wall moves and can now be painted, but theses caulking don’t clean up well with soap and water, instead you have to clean up with thinner or denatured alcohol, what a drag.
I used an acrylic, latex in this video, one that says it lasts 35 years.
Lastly caulk in early morning when the all stucco cracks are the largest.
if you wait till noontime or late afternoon the wall heats up the wall expands and you can barely see the crack, the one’s you don’t see will be back when the weather is cool again usually in the morning.
when we did this video in 2011 I said to repair cracks takes more time in than most folks realize. For example, in the early morning they are the largest and in the hot sun they are almost invisible. (Stucco walls expand and shrink)
