Painted Stucco sand finishes.
Ask The Plasterer Eric, he knows all about the art of plastering. My buddy, Eric is located in the UK, where the plasterers really know their lime plasers.
Eric will answer all your plastering questions as long as you buy him beer. https://www.youtube.com/live/W7bMZDzIjas?si=TQKyvKiai2NCRoZm/.

FYI, if you have a dash finish that was applied say 50 to 150 years ago, chances are that the home has been painted once every ten years.
That’s a coat of primer and top paint. Thus if it’s a 70-year-old dash finish on your home, that’s 14 layers of paint & primer.
What that much paint does to a dash finish is soften it. Thus now you have a sand finish.
Some sand finishes can be matched with Olimpia or Felton sand which is technically used as a plaster sand.
I used heavier sand so that when painted, with a primer and top coat it should blend in just as well if not better as their other patch.
Note: I and my sons and Eric the plasterer can spot a patch on any wall no matter if we did the patch as that’s what we do for a living.
