Plastering expert shows DIY folks 3 coats same day plastering

Howdy folks, here I explain how we in the plastering industry apply multiple coats of stucco on the same day! Please note this takes years of experience and usually a certification.
It’s not so difficult to spread out the stucco, but much, much more difficult to understand the cements and how much time you have to apply them, when they will set and the right time to apply the next. The importance is in the time in; usually I can just look at the wall and determine when it’s ready. Then you take into consideration who and how it was mixed, that’s the real fun or as some say, the real challenge.

How much sand for each coat of stucco?
[www.astm.org] Scratch coats are mixed at 1 part cement to 2-1/4 to 4 parts sand, brown coats are mixed at 1 part cement to 3 to 5 parts sand, and finish coats are 1 part cement to 1-1/2 to 3 parts sand.
