How thick is a scratch coat, Exterior stucco scratch coat thickness,
Exterior stucco coat thickness or depth, then scarifier or put lines in the stucco.

In this video, I answer the old question, how thick stucco should be applied.

This exterior cement plaster is being applied 3/8 thick as a rule; what happens if you use a little more or less? Nothing. You can always add or apply thinner on your second coat to reach the correct depth.
After you have your first coat of stucco on, you then scratch it horizontally with a scarifier.
This provides a key for your next coat or the brown coat to be applied to.
When both are applied, that’s your basecoat; the surfaces are unlimited if you want to put a texture in the base coat.

Big tip for all while on our channel. You may also type in any question you may have on Stucco or Plastering, and like magic, a video will appear to explain or teach you how to DIY.

Next, kick back, relax, and enjoy the video!
