Does stucco deteriorate? No.
But the wood that surrounds windows, doors and other areas actually needs more maintenance than the stucco siding, especially where the sun and rain hit it the hardest. Thats life.

A word about this video: A few areas have seen better days. However, the GC repaired everything that needed attention quite thoroughly, and it now needs simple maintenance to last a few hundred more years.

Although stucco is one of the most durable surfaces or cladding available, it, like everything in life, has to be maintained for longevity.

Traditional stucco usually requires repainting every 7 to 10 years.
Thus, buy the best primer and paint available so you won’t have to do it so often.
I own a wooden home and paint it seems, every 7 years; it sucks, but the alternative to doing nothing is much more work in the future.

My other two sons, Carl and Dan, are located in Sonora, CA.
They both understand stucco and most carpentry. Both are young, strong, ambitious and have integrity instilled into them by a father with morals. Call them for your stucco or plastering needs in their area.
